Lead of the Istanbul node · Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Engineering, Gebze Technical University
Tülay Ayyıldız is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Engineering at Gebze Technical University, where she is Vice Chair of the department and coordinates the Cyber Security graduate programme. She leads the Istanbul node of ALCYON.
Her research is in symbolic-numeric computation and optimization, with a focus on efficient polynomial algorithms and their applications to optimization, cryptology, real root certification and positivity problems.
She received her PhD in Applied Mathematics from North Carolina State University in 2016, advised by Ágnes Szántó and Jonathan Hauenstein, and was a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Applied Mathematics of Middle East Technical University.
In 2025 she received the Applications of Computer Algebra Early Researcher Award (ACA-ERA). In August–September 2026 she was a visiting researcher at Sorbonne Université, Paris, hosted by Elias Tsigaridas, with a PRESTIJ Research Fellowship from the Embassy of France in Türkiye.
