Zafeirakis Zafeirakopoulos is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (since September 2025), where he leads the Athens node of ALCYON. He is a mathematician who spends most of his time designing and implementing algorithms, combining partition analysis, polyhedral geometry and symbolic computation; he is the co-author of Polyhedral Omega, an algorithm for solving linear Diophantine systems.
He studied mathematics and computational science at the University of Athens and received his PhD from the Research Institute for Symbolic Computation (RISC) of Johannes Kepler University Linz in 2012, supervised by Peter Paule and Matthias Beck. He was then a postdoctoral researcher at RISC, at the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications of the University of Athens and at the Department of Mathematics of Galatasaray University.
From 2016 to 2022 he was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Engineering of Gebze Technical University. He then spent two years as a maître assistant at the University of Geneva, in the Eccellenza project of Jehanne Dousse, and was a researcher in the ELIDEK project of Maria Chlouveraki at the University of Athens.
He is the Information Director of ACM SIGSAM and an associate editor of ACM Communications in Computer Algebra.
